Sunsari Nepali of State 3 has won the title of National Skill Competition in Cookery organised first time in the country. With winning the title, Nepali bagged Rs 100 thousand.
The competition was organised by the Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) and National Skill Testing Board with the technical support of the Swiss Government. The Gate Vocational of Pokhara coordinated the event held in Pokhara.
Similarly, Ramesh Thapa of State 3 won the second position while the third position was secured by Om Prasad Dhakal of State 5.
They went home with a cash prize of Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. Among 163 competitors from all seven States, 14 had reached the final after facing several rounds. The objective of the competition is to produce skilled human resources at home.
Gandaki State Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung highlighted the need of promoting technical and vocational education because Nepal was gradually becoming a place of unemployed graduates.
The competition kicked off two months ago. In the final round, the participants demonstrated their talents in three verities of food, said Gate Vocational Pokhara’s Managing Director Bibek Poudel.
