Awareness campaign for strong opposition: leader MahatPosted 1 month ago by Sandeep Bhattarai
Nepali Congress joint General Secretary Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that the awareness campaign was organised in order to consolidate the role of the main opposition party.
The campaign will also address intra-party conflict and help it stand tall and strong before the majority government. Speaking at a press conference organised by Nepal Press Union Baglung, leader Mahat said the Media Council bill tabled by the government was to shut the mouth of the journalists and said that it would be protested in the parliament. Accepting that the role of the opposition was weak in the past, Mahat expressed the confidence that the awareness would strengthen the role.
Also former Foreign Minister, leader Mahat accused the government of encouraging inflation, corruption and violence against women. “It is unfortunate that a powerful government has failed to meet the promises it made to the people,” he said.
He also claimed that the Nepali Congress would now be free of any faction and intra-party difference, as it is taking the path towards consolidation.
