Japanese Foreign Minister Kono arriving Kathmandu on Jan 9

Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Taro Kono left here Thursday morning for France after completing a two-day official visit of Nepal.

Minister Kono had arrived here on Wednesday at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali. Earlier Thursday morning, Minister Kono paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli separately.

During the visit, Nepal and Japan renewed the Air Service Agreement reached in 1993 and also signed memorandum of understanding to establish a bilateral consultative mechanism and to send Nepali workers to Japan for employment. Other matters of mutual and bilateral interest and concern were also discussed during the bilateral talks held on Thursday under the leadership of the two foreign ministers.

Japanese Minister Kono was seen off at the Tribhuvan International Airport by Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Masamichi Saigo and high-level officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
