Kharel trying to defame my character: leader GautamPosted 6 months ago by Sandeep Bhattarai
Secretariat member of the Communist party of Nepal, Bamdev Gautam, has accused former Inspector General of Nepal Police, Achyut Krishna Kharel, of trying to defame his character through his autobiography.
Talking to media persons at his residence on Monday, former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Gautam said the former IGP’s autobiography falsely states that he sent a journalist demanding Rs 2 million from Kharel, which was rejected. “Who was that journalist whom I sent with a proposal of Rs 2 million? Kharel has to prove it,” he said.
Leader Gautam claimed that Kharel was actually taking revenge for relieving him from the post of IGP. Saying that everything written by Kharel in his autobiography was not true, he clarified that Kharel was relieved from the chief of police as per party’s direction.
Leader Gautam said, “I did not want to relieve Kharel from the post. However, there was no possibility to hold local elections without relieving him from the post. So, as Home Minister, I relieved Kharel at consent of the then Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand, as per party’s direction.”
