The National Child Rights Council has rescued children from children’s home that were running illegally.
In the past six months, the Council has rescued 80 children. In the fiscal year 2075/76, a total of 186 children were rescued from children’s home in different parts of the country, which were found to be operating illegally, according to the council spokesperson Ram Bahadur Chand.
The Council recently rescued children from the Utsaha Nepal Lalitpur, Sahara Sanstha, Nawalparasi, Aishwarya Children’s home, Kathmandu and Sadaul Women’s Society, Kathmandu. In the previous fiscal year 2074/75, a total of 147 children were rescued from 9 children’s home.
There are 533 children’s homes operating in 46 districts of the country as of 2019. Altogether, 15,565 children are taking shelter in such homes. The standards enforced since 2069 requires the children’s home to ensure records of full details of children, their final measure of care, providing quality food, clothing and accommodation, among others.
