Ex Gurkha soldier’s support to Child Development Centre buildingPosted 2 months ago by Sandeep Bhattarai
Whoever says a solider is all about courage but not compassion? Meet Kharka Bahadur Pun of Kathekhola rural municipality in Baglung district who proved that he has a heart of gold.
The former Gurkha who served as the solider in the British Gurkha Engineering recently provided monetary support worth Rs 3.3 million for the construction of a modern building for the Child Development Centre in his locality in personal capacity.
The 63-year-old Pun, who currently resides in Hong Kong with his family, felt for the 13 children studying in a one-room facility of the Child Development Centre and decided to support it. The Centre lacked modern facilities.
Despite his involvement in Kaduri Organization which provides humanitarian support for the people in rural part of Nepal after his retirement, he arranged the amount for the building project on his own. Pun told RSS through social networking site that he felt the vulnerable children were physically and mentally insecure in that room that had a leaking roof and no warm mat. He then had vowed to contribute his bit in construction of the modern building.
Pun’s brother Ek Bahadur Kaucha laid the foundation stone for the construction of four-roomed building at Kadesh Child Development Centre amid a programme on Wednesday.
