Basanti Pariyar of Danda Bazaar at Kawasoti Municipality-16 of Nawalparasi district, who survived an acid-attack and a lethal weapon attack thereafter, is now out of danger, her doctors confirmed.
The 27-year-old was thrown acid by her neighbour, Bimal Shripali, 37, on September 25 when she was returning home from a grocery. She was further stabbed by a sharp weapon.
Following the attack, Pariyar had undergone a surgery on her stomach, chest, cheeks and head at Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan as acid had burned her neck, chest and both hands. According to senior surgeon Dr Suresh Pradhan, who performed surgery on Pariyar on the same night, shared that she was out of danger.
Earlier admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Hospital, Pariyar is still in the ICU but being rendered normal routined medical care. Medical Superintendent of Hospital Dr Krishna Poudel said a plastic surgeon was brought to the Hospital to perform plastic surgery on Pariyar’s those parts exposed to acid.
The acid-attack survivor’s family is willing to take Pariyar to Kathmandu for further treatment. The medical officers at the Hospital, according to Dr Poudel, have requested the survivor’s family not to worry anymore about her treatment.
Furthermore, the Hospital has assured that it could offer all healthcare needed to Pariyar. On Saturday, a team comprising Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City Renu Dahal and Chief District Officer Jitendra Basnet among others met Pariyar and assured her of necessary supports for the medical treatment.
Acid attack, according to the doctors attending to Pariyar, has caused critical damage in her one eye while another one was in a normal condition.
