Nepal-Australia Consultation Mechanism meets

The Nepal-Australia consultation mechanism formed in 2017 to strengthen Nepal-Australia relations and enhance bilateral cooperation held its first meeting here Thursday.

Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi opened the first meeting of Bilateral Consultation Mechanism between Nepal and Australia on Thursday, highlighting the policies of Nepal government on foreign affairs and priorities in development endeavors. He further elaborated Nepal’s relationship with Australia, priorities and future course of action for bilateral engagement, said the Foreign Ministry.

Similarly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of Australia discussed the matters of bilateral importance. Exchange of high level visits, strengthening collaboration and cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, tourism, human resource development, energy, connectivity, education etc. were among the matters discussed during the meeting.

Joint Secretary at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tapas Adhikari, and Assistant Secretary from DFAT, Andrew Collins, led the discussions from their respective side.
