Minister KC lays foundation stone for covered hall

A modern covered hall is going to be constructed to develop physical infrastructures for 13th South Asian Games scheduled in Nepal.

The hall is to be constructed at partnership of the National Sports Council and Tribhuvan University on 70 ropanis of land located at the premises of TU. A plan has been set to complete the construction work of the covered hall within two years.

Laying foundation stone for the hall here today, Minister for Youth and Sports, Rajendra Kumar KC expressed the commitment to developing the physical infrastructure in other places to conclude the SAG successfully.

Directing the bodies concerned to complete the construction works in the deadline, Minister said that he would not allow budget crunch for the same.

Similarly, Sports Secretary Mahesh Prasad Dahal said that income could be made from the hall after allowing the private sector to use it while Vice-Chancellor of the TU, Dr Tirtha Khaniya, said that homework was on to run classes of sports subject from next year.

Likewise, Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality, Ramesh Maharjan expressed commitment to provide possible support for the construction of the hall and expansion of other physical infrastructures.

Member-Secretary of the NSC, Keshav Bahadur Bista, said that the hall is going to be constructed at a cost of around Rs 830 million.
