The Embassy of Nepal in Brussels organized a special programme to observe the 10th Republic Day on the premises of the Embassy on May 29.
Speaking at the programme, Ambassador of Nepal to Belgium and Head of Mission to the European Union, Lok Bahadur Thapa, extended best wishes to all Nepali nationals living in the BENELUX countries and also paid homage to martyrs who laid down their lives for the establishment of democratic dispensation in Nepal, said a press release issued by Nepali Embassy in Brussels.
Ambassador Thapa also highlighted the major achievements after the establishment of Nepal as a federal democratic republic in 2008, including the election of first ever constituent assembly, promulgation of constitution, increasing economic growth rate, and ongoing local elections, among others.
He also called upon all Non-Resident Nepalis living in BENELUX to positively contribute to socio-economic development of Nepal. Speaking during the event, Belgium Chapter President of NRNA, Gangadhar Gautam, on behalf of all NRNs, extended his best wishes on the Republic Day.
Office bearers of NRNA, representatives of Belgium-based Nepali Organizations, businesspersons, media persons and Nepali nationals living in Belgium were present in the programme.
Similarly, the National News Agency (RSS) has received press statements from various Nepali embassies informing about the celebration of the 10th Republic Day.
